Description
This is exploratory for the redesign work, I’d like to determine whether we could pull in a newer compiler and C++ runtime to deploy SP 4 on 7 (and I guess Amazon 2 potentially).
Normally we don’t do this, but RH7 and Amz2 are the only platforms we build on now that don’t support C++14 natively, which is a hassle. These aren’t even supported platforms now, so I don’t think I would allow them to dictate this anyway, but if we could do a build by forcing people to add an additional repo, it would probably be worth it.
I don’t know that Red Hat or Amazon makes that option practical or not, so this is just to determine that.
