It's possible to create your own events that can be handled in custom fashion, but doing so requires that the system be taught about the event by adding an appropriate <end-state> element and <transition> elements to conf/intercept/intercept-events-flow.xml.
Please note that if you started with a fairly early version of the software, your copy of that file may be out of date and not contain the same content (or examples in comments) as the current version. You may copy the “new” version for your current install from the dist directory.
